PENERAPAN METODE TOPSIS UNTUK MENENTUKAN KAMPUS TERBAIK BERDASARKAN KRITERIA AKADEMIK DAN FASILITAS

Abstrak

Berdasarkan kriteria reputasi akademik dan fasilitas, penelitian ini menyelidiki penggunaan metode Teknik Preferensi Pesanan dengan Kesamaan dengan Solusi Ideal (TOPSIS) untuk mengidentifikasi institusi terbaik di Indonesia. Memilih institusi terbaik memang sulit karena calon mahasiswa menuntut kualitas akademik yang lebih tinggi serta fasilitas kampus yang luas. Penelitian ini menggunakan sejumlah metode pengumpulan data, termasuk observasi kampus secara langsung, wawancara terstruktur dengan mahasiswa yang ada dan calon mahasiswa, dan tinjauan literatur terkait. Matriks pilihan yang dinormalisasi dibuat, skor tertimbang dihitung, solusi ideal positif dan negatif diidentifikasi, jarak ke ideal tersebut diukur, dan universitas diberi peringkat menggunakan pendekatan TOPSIS. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, Universitas Indonesia menerima skor preferensi tertinggi, diikuti oleh Institut Teknologi Bandung dan Universitas Gadjah Mada. Pemeringkatan ini menunjukkan bahwa Universitas Indonesia menawarkan keseimbangan optimal antara reputasi akademik dan fasilitas, sehingga menjadikannya pilihan paling tepat bagi calon mahasiswa. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa metode TOPSIS adalah alat yang berharga untuk pengambilan keputusan yang obyektif dalam pemilihan universitas berdasarkan beragam kriteria.

Based on academic reputation and facility criteria, this study investigates the use of the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method to identify Indonesia's top institution. Choosing the best institution is difficult since prospective students are demanding more and more academic quality as well as extensive campus amenities. This study used a number of data collection methods, including as in-person campus observations, structured interviews with existing and potential students, and a review of pertinent literature. A normalized choice matrix was created, weighted scores were computed, positive and negative ideal solutions were identified, distances to these ideals were measured, and the universities were ranked using the TOPSIS approach. The University of Indonesia received the highest preference score, according to the results, followed by Bandung Institute of Technology and Gadjah Mada University. This ranking suggests that Universitas Indonesia offers an optimal balance of academic reputation and facilities, making it the most suitable choice for prospective students. These findings confirm that the TOPSIS method is a valuable tool for objective decision-making in university selection based on diverse criteria.
